On 17 May 2025, Latvia will celebrate the 160th anniversary of organized firefighting. To mark this important milestone, the Latvian Firefighting Museum is presenting a timeline of historical events tracing the development of the fire service in the territory of Latvia since 1865.
This development is divided into four key periods: firefighting during the Russian Empire (1865–1914), the Republic of Latvia (1918–1940), the Soviet era (1945–1991) and the post-independence period.
The exhibition opens on 17 May at the Latvian Firefighting Museum.
